Rome, Italy (CNN) – The Vatican is reviewing its rules on how to handle allegations of sexual abuse by priests, said Monday, without giving further details.
The powerful Catholic Church body in charge of these allegations has been working on updating the 2001 regulations “for some time,” said the Vatican.
It issued a new summary of its proceedingss in cases of sexual abuse Monday, already fighting the perception that has tried to move on land abuse in the past. The summary said that the review takes place.
The church has been very shaken by allegations of child abuse by clergy in general deeply Catholic Ireland, and hundreds of callers have been abused have been presented in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
Internal documents of the Catholic Church have come to the United States, which critics say Pope Benedict XVI personally link attempts to conceal abuse.
The Vatican says the letters concerned about a priest accused of sexually abusing hundreds of deaf children in Wisconsin over two decades, were not written for Rome, until long after the abuse happened.
The one-page document released Monday described the diocese official must act when a priest is accused of abuse, such complaints are increasing in Rome, and possible punishments for offenders.
Appears to contain no new guidelines – just to consolidate existing practices in a document.
It is designed primarily to help the media understand the procedures of the Church, Father Cyrus BenedetoTini of the Vatican press office told CNN.
The summary prepared by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, says local diocese “investigate all allegations of sexual abuse of a minor by a cleric.”
If the complaint “has a semblance of truth”, the local diocese, refers to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith
local diocese must also report the allegations to civil authorities if required by local law, the guidelines say.
The Pope was the head of the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger before being enthroned as Pope Benedict XVI in 2005.

The Blue Blur Superhero That Rules the Gaming World
Jan 15th
Even 18 years after its release, Sonic the Hedgehog is as popular as it was when it first took the gaming industry by storm. This famous superhero, which can run faster than sound and fight enemies at lightening fast speeds, was first introduced in 1991. A time when the gaming world was ruled by other famous characters like Mario and Donkey Kong. However, Sonic outscored all these heroes to create a special place for itself in the hearts of game and comic book followers. With Sonic games becoming available online, the popularity of the character as well as the game series he represents has reached new levels of popularity.
The introduction of Sonic the Hedgehog was undoubtedly the most revolutionary event in the history of video games. Sega Corporation, which has been a leader in the gaming industry, will always be remembered for unleashing a new era of gaming with the introduction of Sonic games. The immense popularity of the character, his friends and enemies gave an insight into how a simple animated character could transform the concept of fighting evil. It inspired numerous video game creators into constantly developing newer and better games and characters in an attempt to earn the credit for creating another popular superhero like Sonic.
However, despite its popularity, not many people are aware about the origins of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic was basically a hedgehog named Sony, who was born in a poor family in the town of Hardly in Nebraska. His father died in an accident when he was just a couple of days old. Having spent its early days in much poverty, this cute little character was taken in by a Dr. Kintobor at a very young age. Dr. Kintobor was kind hearted scientist who wanted to rid the world of all the evils by entrapping them in seven Emeralds, through a specially designed treadmill. It was during this process that one day Sony caused a massive explosion by running too fast on the treadmill, which resulted in not only changing his color from brown to blue but also in granting him with some special powers as well.
Sonic games have never ceased to mesmerize millions of players across the world. Young and adults alike are addicted to the action packed episodes in the series. The ease of use of game play featured in the Sonic games available online has enabled millions of new fans to enjoy the fun and adventure, everyday without having to buy the game. During the last few years with the Internet revolution some have worried that the availability of online games would hurt sales of the original creators at Sega.
However, it should be a proven fact by now, that online games are only able to deliver light and fast loading versions of Sonic games, and will never pack the punch included in a console version. While online versions are free to play, they are only meant to entice the gamer who in the midst of excitement and enthusiasm is left looking for more. For avid gamers, the console version is the only way to go.
